About Jen Medina
Jen Medina has always had education in mind. Through high school she worked with preschoolers which convinced her of her love of teaching.
Jen Medina graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. After meeting her husband, she moved back to New York where she worked in the private school sect in both urban and suburban schools. Jen went on to work as a public school teacher in a diverse district in Rockland County, New York. She has experience in both the regular education and collaborative classroom models. Jen developed and lead many innovative projects during her tenure that brought high student participation as well as a love for learning.
Jen attended New York Institute of Technology to obtain her Masters Degree in Instructional Technology. She continued to broaden her own repetoir and development through providing staff development through both her school and the teachers' center she belonged to. Jen left the classroom to take a position as an Instructional Facilitator where she provided staff development for two schools, as well as parent workshops and developed curricula.
Jen Medina has participated in a number of excellent opportunites that have enhanced her understanding of education. She worked as a teacher partner in a Columbia University Study regarding proximal assessments and closing achievement gaps. She worked in partnership with NYS to set the standards for the NYS 2006 ELA in grades 5 and 6.
Jen Medina has also been a teacher with Gifted Child Society, was Teacher Leader at a preschool, and worked with the community to increase students love of learning.
Jen currently resides in the suburbs of Syracuse, NY and homeschools her two children.
